Antonino “Nino” Frassica, born on December 11, 1950, in Messina, is an Italian actor and television personality.
He is well-known for his deadpan humour and odd quips, which he claims he uses to “ruin logic and the Italian language.” Frassica is regarded as a master of senseless humour, especially during the summer.
Frassica made his debut on Italian television in 1985, in Renzo Arbore’s show Quelli della notte. He played a semi-illiterate monk in this show, showing his distinct humorous approach.
He continued to work with Arbore and was cast in the surreal quiz show Indietro tutta! (lit. full speed backward!) in 1987.
In addition to his television appearances, Frassica has appeared in a number of humorous films, including “FF.SS.” – Cioè: “…che mi hai portato a fare sopra a Posillipo se non mi vuoi più bene?” (1985), Mortacci (1989), Vacanze di Natale ’91 (1991), Sognando la California (1992), Anni 90 (1992), Anni 90: Parte II (1993), La fidanzata di papà (2008), Baara (2009), Somewhere (2010), The Tourist (2010), Natale a Londra – Dio salvi la regina (2016), Omicidio all’italiana (2017), and No Country for Young Men (2017).
Frassica is especially well-known for his portrayal of Marshal Antonio “Nino” Cecchini in the Italian TV series Don Matteo, which aired from 2000 to 2005. His interpretation of the character has earned him critical acclaim and a devoted following.
