Lina Beckmann’s Biography
Lina Beckmann was born on April 21st, 1981, in Hagen, Germany. She is a renowned German actress known for her exceptional performances on theatre stages as well as in film and TV productions.
Theatre Today magazine awarded her the prestigious title of Actress of the Year in both 2011 and 2022. Beckmann is also a member of Hamburg’s prestigious Free Academy of the Arts.
Beckmann had a profound enthusiasm for theatre from a young age, which she retained with her throughout her life.
She grew up in the Ruhr region with four siblings; one of them, her older sister Maja, was also an actress. Beckmann got professional acting training at the Folkwang-Hochschule Essen’s acting course in Bochum from 2001 to 2004.
She got the opportunity to work at the renowned Schauspielhaus Bochum under the direction of renowned directors such as Wilfried Minks, Alvis Hermanis, David Bösch, and many others during her training.
She began her career at the Schauspielhaus Zürich in 2005 and then transferred to the Wuppertaler Bühnen.
She also made guest performances at the Prinzregenttheater before joining the Schauspiel Köln as a permanent ensemble member from 2007 until 2013. She has been working at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg since 2013.

In 2011, she made her Salzburg Festival debut as God’s Good Works in Scola’s play “The Dirty, the Ugly, and the Bad.” Beckmann has also appeared in several films, including “The Visitor,” “Among Farmers – Saviour in the Night,” and “Remaining Vacation.”
Lina Beckmann is the mother of a son from a previous relationship. She is married to actor Charly Hübner, with whom she lives in Hamburg. Beckmann is the younger sister of actress Maja Beckmann, who shares her passion for the arts.

In 2011, she received the Alfred Kerr Actor Award for her parts in the Jelinek trilogy “The Work/On the Bus/A Fall” and as Varya in Anton Chekhov’s “The Cherry Orchard.” Theatre Today magazine honoured her as Actress of the Year the same year.
She has also won the 3sat Prize, the Rolf Mares Prize, the Ulrich Wildgruber Prize, the German Acting Award, the Nestroy Theatre Prize, and the Gertrud Eysoldt Ring.
She was selected Actress of the Year by Theatre Today magazine again in 2022, and she also got the German Theatre Prize Der Faust in the category of Actor in Drama for her portrayal in “Richard the Kid & the King.”
