Who Is Ilja Richter?
Ilja Richter is a multifaceted individual who has made a mark in the German entertainment industry as an actor, voice actor, television presenter, singer, theatre director, and author.
His life story, which began on November 24, 1952, in East Berlin, is a blend of political challenges and individual triumphs.
Georg and Eva, Richter’s parents, came from very different backgrounds. Communist Georg gave his son the name Ilja in honour of Russian journalist Ilya Ehrenburg.
Eva, a Jew, on the other hand, disguised herself as an Aryan to endure the horrors of the Third Reich. During that time, Georg spent a substantial amount of time in detention camps.
In 1953, the Richter family moved to West Berlin as a result of political issues. They rented a restaurant there, where Janina, Ilja’s sister, was born in 1955. They relocated to Cologne in 1959 and opened a second eatery there.

Eva, a former actress, saw potential in her son and brought him to an audition at Sender Freies Berlin. Ilja started his acting career at the age of nine. His portrayal as Albert in the television series “Till, the Boy Next Door” helped him become well-known as a teenager.
Richter, however, rose to fame in West Germany during the 1970s as the host of the well-liked music programme “Disco,” which was taped in front of a live audience. On the programme, he performed comedy sketches as well.
