Howard Paul Donald, born on April 28, 1968, is a multi-talented English musician and member of the popular pop-group Take That.

Howard Donald’s Biography

Howard Donald has had a tremendous impact on the music industry as a singer, composer, drummer, pianist, dancer, and record producer.

Donald attended Littlemoss High School in Droylsden but did not complete any GCSEs. Instead, he enrolled in a three-year Youth Training Scheme (YTS) car painter training programme.

Donald’s true interest, despite his vocational schooling, was music. He developed an interest in electronic acts such as Kraftwerk, John Foxx, OMD, and Gary Numan as a result of his brother’s record collection.

Donald acquired his passion for dancing throughout his adolescence and became active in the Greater Manchester breakdancing scene. It was through this circuit that he first met his future bandmate, Jason Orange.

Donald’s career in music began when he auditioned for Nigel Martin-Smith’s boy band idea, which later became Take That.

Take That, which included Donald, Gary Barlow, Jason Orange, Mark Owen, and Robbie Williams, was a huge success under Martin-Smith’s direction.

Their triumph, however, was short-lived, as Williams left the group in 1995. Take That persisted as a quartet, with Donald playing a smaller part in lead vocals than Barlow, Owen, and Williams.

He did, however, have the opportunity to demonstrate his vocal powers on the hit ballad “Never Forget,” which reached the top of the UK charts in 1995.

Following the band’s breakup in 1996, Donald launched a solo career, recording an unreleased single called “Speak Without Words” and returning to his DJ roots.

Unfortunately, this was a period of tremendous instability in his life, and he even considered suicide. Take That, on the other hand, chose to reunite in 2005, and they embarked on a tremendously successful reunion tour called The Ultimate Tour in 2006.

They followed this up with the release of their album “Beautiful World,” which had Donald on lead vocals on several tunes.

Donald returned to Take That’s subsequent albums, including “The Circus” in 2008, “Progress” in 2010, and “Wonderland” in 2017. He proved his flexibility by not only singing lead vocals but also playing drums and serving as the band’s record producer.

During his time away from Take That, Donald served as a judge on the German reality talent show “Got to Dance” from 2013 to 2014. He demonstrated his love of dance, which has been a part of his life since he was a child.

Despite his success in the music world, Donald has had his share of difficulties. During the 2007 Beautiful World Tour, he ruptured a lung while doing difficult gymnastic stunts on stage.

Fortunately, he recovered quickly and rejoined the rest of the band for the final portion of the tour.

Donald has been married to the illustrator Katie Halil since January 2015. He is the proud father of four children, two daughters from prior marriages and two sons from his marriage to Halil.

He has also been frank about his prior drug usage, calling for cannabis legalisation and admitting to trying with ecstasy.

Despite the ups and downs of his career, Donald remains dedicated to music and continues to fascinate audiences with his talents. As a Manchester United fan, he remains a significant character both on and off the pitch.
