Giulio Sapelli, born on March 11, 1947, in Turin, Italy, is a renowned economist, historian, and business manager.
He has made substantial contributions to economic history and occupied positions of prominence in academia, business, and government.
Sapelli earned his technical and master’s degrees before graduating from the University of Turin with a degree in Economics in 1971. In 1972, he specialised in Ergonomics.
He went on to teach and do research at prestigious universities such as the London School of Economics and Political Science, the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and the University of Buenos Aires. Sapelli was a full professor of economic history at the University of Milan, where he also taught political economy and organisational cultural analysis.
Sapelli has had positions in research, training, and consulting throughout his career. He has worked with corporations such as Olivetti and Eni, as well as serving as a consultant for a number of others. He was on the Board of Directors of Eni, a global leader in the energy sector, from 1996 until 2002.
From 2000 to 2001, he was a Government Advisor to the Monte dei Paschi di Siena Foundation, and from 2002 to 2009, he was a member of the Board of Directors of Unicredit Banca d’Impresa.
