Who Is Anders Behring Breivik Mother? Full Details

Anders Behring Breivik was born on February 13, 1979, and can be described as a Norwegian far-right nationalist terrorist. He is said to be the brain behind the 2011 Norway attacks which occurred on July 22, 2011. In that attack, a van bomb was detonated at Regjeringskvartalet in Oslo killing 8 people in the process. 69 participants of a Workers’ Youth League (AUF) summer camp were also killed in a mass shooting on the island of Utøya.

It must be noted that Anders Behring Breivik in July 2012, was found guilty of mass murder, causing a fatal explosion, and terrorism. He was subsequently sentenced to the maximum civilian criminal penalty in Norway; 21 years’ imprisonment through preventive detention, allowing the possibility of one or more extensions for as long as he is deemed a danger to society.

Even though Anders Behring Breivik did not recognize the legitimacy of the court and its ruling, he still did not make an appeal. According to him, an appeal would rather legitimize the authority of the Oslo District Court. He was known to have applied for parole in 2022 but it was rejected. He appealed against the rejection.

It must be noted that when Anders Behring Breivik was just 16 years old, he was arrested for spraying graffiti on walls. He was not accepted into the Norwegian Armed Forces. However, at age 20, he got the chance to join the anti-immigration Progress Party and led the local Vest Oslo branch of the party’s youth organization in 2002.

Anders Behring Breivik joined a gun club in 2005 and a year later, he left the Progress Party. The company that he founded was declared bankrupt and he had no declared income in 2009. His assets were 390,000 kroner (equivalent to $72,063), according to Norwegian tax authority figures and he was accused for financing terror attacks with a total of €130,000; nine credit cards gave him access to credit.

Anders Behring Breivik’s father was Jens David Breivik who was born in 1935. Jens David Breivik served as a diplomat for the Norwegian Embassy in London and later in Paris.

The mother of Anders Behring Breivik was Wenche Elisabeth Behring (1946–2013). She was a nursing assistant. Anders Behring Breivik has maternal half-sister named Elisabeth, and three paternal half-siblings: Erik, Jan, and Nina.

When Anders Behring Breivik was a year old, his father and mother divorced. Wenche Elisabeth Behring took care of Anders Behring Breivik from 1982 to 1994 and they lived in an apartment building in the Skøyen neighbourhood of Oslo’s Ullern borough.
