Tim Mälzer, born on January 22, 1971, in Elmshorn, Schleswig-Holstein, is a renowned German television chef, restaurateur, cookbook author, and television presenter.
Mälzer has become a household name in the culinary world thanks to a childhood enthusiasm for cooking.
Mälzer’s culinary odyssey began in 1990, after graduating from the Johannes-Brahms-Schule in Pinneberg. He finished his alternative civil service in Pinneberg’s district hospital before pursuing his passion of becoming a chef.
From 1992 to 1995, Mälzer worked at the famed Hotel InterContinental in Hamburg, sharpening his abilities and establishing a solid foundation in the culinary sector.
In 1995, Mälzer began an adventure, working as a chef at London’s prestigious Ritz Hotel. During this time, he had the opportunity to work with well-known chefs such as Antonio Carluccio and Gennaro Contaldo.
His stint at the Covent Garden Neal Street Restaurant happened to coincide with the term of a young and unknown chef, Jamie Oliver. Mälzer and Oliver formed a close bond that would have an impact on their respective careers.
