Who Is Soledad O’Brien?
María de la Soledad Teresa O’Brien is an American broadcast journalist and executive producer.
On September 19, 1966, she was born in Saint James, New York, in the United States. O’Brien is well-known for her contributions to several television networks and shows.
She has been the anchor of the nationally syndicated weekly discussion show “Matter of Fact with Soledad O’Brien,” created by Hearst Television, since 2016.
O’Brien created Starfish Media Group in 2013, a multiplatform media production and distribution firm, and serves as its chairperson.
She serves on the board of the Henry W. Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia, which administers the Peabody Awards.
At WBZ-TV in Boston, where she worked as an associate producer and news writer, O’Brien began her career in journalism.
She started working for NBC News in 1991 and has since held a number of jobs, including field producer for Weekend Today and the Nightly News. Later, she worked for KRON-TV, an NBC affiliate in San Francisco, as a reporter and bureau chief.
O’Brien relocated to CNN in 2003, where she co-anchored the morning show “American Morning” from that year until 2007. From 2012 to 2013, she was the “Starting Point” morning news programme anchor for CNN.
O’Brien has contributed to a variety of other endeavours, including the films “Latino in America” and “Black in America,” which looked at the lives of Latinos and African Americans in the country.
O’Brien has been a correspondent for HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel” since 2013 in addition to her career in television. Additionally, she has dabbled with podcasting, co-hosting the “Everyday Wealth” show with personal finance writer Jean Chatzky.
O’Brien has four children outside of her work and is wed to Bradford “Brad” Raymond. She is active in charity as a mentor for women at the PowHERful Foundation, which supports their pursuit of higher education.
O’Brien got married to Bradford “Brad” Raymond, co-head of Stifel’s investment banking, in 1995. Charles and Jackson, their twins, were born in August 2004. They also have two daughters, Sofia and Cecilia, born in March 2002 and October 2000, respectively.
