Ronan Keating’s Biography

Ronan Patrick John Keating was born on March 3, 1977, in Dublin, Ireland. He attended St. Fintan’s High School and grew up in Bayside, Dublin, and County Meath. Ronan is the youngest of five siblings, the others being Linda, Ciarán, Gerard, and Gary.

Keating’s interest in music began when he was a child, and he also competed in track and field, earning the All Ireland under-13 200m title. Keating, when 16, joined the Irish singing group Boyzone in 1993.

Keating, along with Keith Duffy, Michael Graham, Shane Lynch, and Stephen Gately, became the band’s co-lead singer (together with Gately). Boyzone rose to prominence in the 1990s, scoring hit singles and albums and selling more than 25 million copies worldwide.

Marie Keating, Keating’s mother, died from breast cancer at the age of 51 in 1998. The Marie Keating Foundation, a charity committed to spreading breast cancer awareness, was founded as a result of this event.

While still a member of Boyzone, Keating launched a solo career in 1999. “Ronan,” his debut solo album, was published in 2000 and was a huge success, topping the charts in the UK and selling over 1.2 million copies.

The album included big singles like “When You Say Nothing At All,” which received international acclaim after being featured in the film “Notting Hill.”

Keating went on to release several additional albums as a solo artist, including “Destination” (2002), “Turn It On” (2003), “10 Years of Hits” (2004), and “Bring You Home” (2006).

He worked with a variety of performers and earned prizes for his songwriting. Keating also dabbled in acting, with roles in “Goddess” (2013) and “Postman Pat: The Movie” (2014).

In addition to his music and acting careers, Keating has worked as a television and radio host.

In Australia, he has judged “The X Factor” (2010–2014) and “All Together Now” (2018), as well as “The Voice Australia” (2016) and “The Voice Kids UK” (2022–2023). On Magic Radio, he presently hosts a breakfast show.

Keating has been actively involved in charitable work throughout his career, including funding cancer research and promoting awareness for breast cancer through the Marie Keating Foundation.
