Joey Kelly’s Biography
Joseph Maria Kelly, better known as Joey Kelly, was born on December 20, 1972, and is of Irish-American descent. He’s created a name for himself as a singer, songwriter, and athlete, competing in a variety of sports and endurance events.
Kelly rose to prominence as a member of the iconic Irish-American music group, the Kelly Family. During the band’s hiatus, he pursued his interest in sports and became active in amateur athletics.
He competed in a variety of endurance races and fun events, demonstrating his athleticism and competitive attitude.
Kelly’s involvement in almost 50 marathons is one of his most notable accomplishments. He has also competed in Ultramarathons, Ironman triathlons, and the Tough Guy Race.
He competed in the Ultraman competition in Hawaii in 1998, completing a three-day event that included a 10 km swim, 421 km cycle ride, and an 84 km run. Despite finishing within the time limit, Kelly was disqualified for unsportsmanlike conduct during a confrontation with a volunteer.
Kelly participated in the Race Across America (RAAM), a long-distance bicycle race across the United States, in 2001. He finished fourth, alongside colleague Thorsten Vahl.
