Who Is Coi Leray?

Coi Leray is a talented American rapper and singer born on May 11, 1997 in Boston, Massachusetts to rapper Benzino and his ex-wife, Tasha. Leray’s parents divorced while she was growing up hence didn’t really get to be raised together by both parents.

As the only daughter of her rapper father, Leray also identified her rapping potential at a very young age. By the time she was 14, Leray had already released her first singles in collaboration with her younger brother, Taj Raymond Collins.

However, she took a short break from music or rap for that matter to focus on her education. She then dropped out of high school when she was 16 to focus on her musical career.

She first worked as a sales girl for some time and released her debut single after leaving school titled “G.A.N” in 2018. That same year, she released the single “Huddy” which turned out to be her breakthrough song.

As of 2023, Leray has so far released two successful studio albums titled “Trendsetter” (2022) and “Coi” (2023). Her collaboration with Nicky Minaj on the song “Blick Blick” peaked at No. 37 on the Billboard Hot 100.

She has also had successful collaborations with top artists such as Lil Durk, DaBaby, Kodak Black, Mustard, etc.

Although she is yet to win any major awards, Leray’s talent and music have been acknowledged over the years. She received a BET nomination in 2021 for Best New Hip Hop Artist at the 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards.

American singer and rapper, Coi Leray has five brothers with no sisters. They are Taj Raymond Collins, Chavo, Kwame Scott, Zino Anthony Scott and another whose identity isn’t known at the moment.

Her father, Raymond Leon Scott, popularly known as Benzino has at least four children aside Coi Leray with different women. One of the mother’s of his kids UD Althea Heart, with whom he had a son named Zino Anthony Scott in 2015.
