Vicco von Bülow, better known by his stage name Loriot was a well-known German comic who worked in theatre, cinema, television, and writing from the 1950s until his passing.
At first, Loriot was well-known for his cartoons, which he produced for publications like Quick, Stern, and Die Straße. His unique caricatures with bulbous noses and clever captions gained a lot of popularity.
Later on in his career, Loriot added acting, scripting, directing, animation, and set and costume design to his repertoire. In 2003, he was named an honorary professor for theatre arts at the Berlin University of the Arts, in addition to his role as a broadcaster.
Loriot drew famous characters and sketches that represented interpersonal communication issues and ordinary life throughout his career. His humour frequently focused on how ridiculous social norms are and how uncomfortable it is to try to follow them.
