Born Vera Elvira Weiß, or Vera Hartegg, was a German writer and actor for theater and screen. She was married to Vera Hierl, who passed away in Baden-Baden on October 1, 1981. Hartegg had been widowed since 1955.

Both of Lulu’s memoirs were best-sellers and saw multiple printings until her passing in 1981. She also penned “A Wheel of Fortune Spins in Paris,” a play for the theater.
