Udo Beyer can be said to be a former East German track and field athlete. Udo Beyer was born on August 9, 1955, and he was known to be involved in shot put Udo Beyer has five siblings and he was born in Stalinstadt, today Eisenhüttenstadt.
Even though he was born in Stalinstadt, today Eisenhüttenstadt, he grew up in Breslack and played handball at the local sport club. It must be noted that Udo Beyer was a goalkeeper of the team representing the district in Frankfurt.
However, based on the advice of his father, he decided to focus on athletics. Ernst Kühl started training Udo Beyer in 1970 but later in 1973, he changed his coach and club. He made a move to ASK Vorwärts Potsdam where he trained under Lothar Hillebrand. He got educated at the University to become a physical education teacher.
Udo Beyer served as a member of the Army Sports Club (ASK) and also a sports officer of the NVA. Udo Beyer became less-active in shot put after the 1988 Summer Olympic Games. However, he made a comeback in 1990 till 1992.
Udo Beyer served as the captain of the East German athletics national team but after the end of his career, he became a travel agent. He had his own travel agency in Potsdam which was set up in 1996. Udo Beyer has been the “Chocolate Ambassador” for Germany’s oldest chocolate factory, Halloren of Halle (Saale) since 2004.
