Stephan Güsgen in simple terms, is a retired West German swimmer of high repute. Stephan Güsgen was born on March 26, 1962, in Dormagen, North Rhine-Westphalia and with respect to swimming, he specialized in sprint freestyle events.
Stephan Güsgen was a member of TSV Bayer Dormagen but subsequently represented Germany in international competitions and was under the tutelage of coach Jürgen Schmitz. H did so well for his country in several competitions and he is said to have represented West Germany during the 1988 Summer Olympics.
It must be noted that Stephan Güsgen competed in the inaugural 50 m freestyle at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul but his performance was not the best .
Stephan Güsgen finished in the fourteenth position in the B final. He recorded a time of 23.55. After retiring from swimming, he served as a Sports medicine orthopedic surgeon at a local hospital in Dormagen.
