Sören Meißner was born on February 12, 1990. Meißner’s swimming journey started in Berlin, his homeland, where he trained under coach Norbert Warnatzsch with the renowned Britta Steffen. But in 2011, Meißner took the crucial choice to go to Würzburg to train with Stefan Lurz, looking for fresh challenges and chances for development.
Meißner’s move to Würzburg turned out to be a driving force behind his success, as he became a formidable competitor in shorter and longer courses alike. He proved his superiority in the water by winning the 800- and 1500-meter gold at the German Championships in 2013. His outstanding results carried over into 2014, but he had to settle for second place as Florian Vogel beat him by a whisker on the short course.
Meißner has proven his mettle in open water contests, proving that his aquatic talent transcends the pool. He demonstrated his stamina and ability at the 2014 German Open Water Championships, finishing the demanding 5-kilometer race in an outstanding fourth position.
But Meißner’s lasting impact came in the mixed relay races over 4 × 1.25 km in open water.
