Shepherd Heinrich, also known as Heinrich Gersmeier or Schäfer Heinrich, is a well-known German farmer and singer.
Heinrich, who was born and reared in Germany, rose to prominence after appearing on the German TV show “Bauer sucht Frau” (Farmer Wants a Wife), where he was looking for a loving partner.
Heinrich’s personal life reflects his passion for his farm and animals. He runs a farm in the “Hellweg Börde” region, where he looks after 400 sheep. His father instilled in him a love of shepherding at a young age. Tragically, Heinrich’s father died in 1998, leaving Heinrich to carry on the family legacy on his own.
Heinrich’s life took an unexpected turn in 2008 when he became a contestant on “Bauer sucht Frau.” His characteristic song, “Das Schäferlied” (The Shepherd Song), became well-known after his time on the show.
This appealing tune immediately became popular, and it was even recorded by the prominent EMI Music label. Heinrich’s standing as an adored public figure was cemented when the song reached number five on the German charts.
Heinrich’s singing career took off after his triumph on the show. He entertained crowds with his distinctive shepherd persona at several music festivals and discos. Heinrich’s possibilities rose in tandem with his fame. He made the leap from music to film in 2018, with the release of his debut feature film, “Schäfer Heinrich – Der Film.” This initiative allowed him to demonstrate his acting abilities while also solidifying his position as a multi-talented entertainer.
Heinrich has recorded various singles over his career, each showcasing his distinct shepherd identity. “Schatzi, ich schubs Dich heute ins Heu” (Darling, I’ll push you into the hay today) and “Im Traktor vor mir” (In the tractor in front of me) are two of his significant releases.
