Sergio Di Martino was one of the members of the music group known as I Giganti. The group is known to have wrote some important pages in the history of Italian music.
Sergio Di Martino was born on April 26, 1946, and he was not a member of I Giganti at the time it was founded. Sergio Di Martinolater joined I Giganti after replacing Giannino Zinnone as bassist.
It must be noted that when I Giganti was founded, it had members such as Enrico Maria Papes, Giannino Zinnone, Checco Marsella, Benny Pretolani and Mino Di Martino, Sergio’s brother.
It was founded in 1959 but after existing with other artists and with the name of Amici, the group experienced an important transition phase in 1963. It was in 1963 when Sergio Di Martino took over from Giannino Zinnone and then Pretolani left the group.
Sergio Di Martino was one of the very important people for I Giganti, bassist and voice of the group. Sergio Di Martino and his brother, Mino Di Martino formed the group Mino & Sergio in 1968 when the members of I Giganti decided to pursue solo careers.
Later on, Sergio Di Martino and his brother made a return to I Giganti in 1970. However, later in 1976, the group dissolved. Later in the 1990s, Sergio Di Martino tried again to reunite the members of I Giganti together with Papes.
They came together for a concert at the Teatro Lirico in Milan. Subsequently, the members have performed together on several occasions and with various formulas after the demise of Sergio Di Martino.
In 2011, Mino Di Martino mustered the courage to perform with the Giganti, on the occasion of winning the Paolo Borsellino Award for the album Terra in Bocca.

Sergio Di Martino was known to have died in February 1996. At the time of his death, he was 49 years old. Sergio Di Martino was believed to have died due to an illness.
