Rutger Hauer was a Dutch actor who was born on January 23, 1944. Per his performance so far as acting is concerned, Rutger Hauer by named and honored by the Dutch public as Bes Dutch Actor of the Century.
It must be noted the professional acting career of Rutger Hauer started in 1969. In 1969, he played a role in a Dutch television series titled Floris.
He also had the opportunity to play the lead role in Turkish Delight (1973). His association with the movie titles Soldier of Orange in 1977 and Spetters in 1980 won him international recognition. This spurred him on to play roles in American films.
He played a role in Nighthawks (1981) and also featured in Blade Runner a year later. It must be emphasized that his exploits so far as Blade Runner was concerned, served as an advantage for him to get roles in movies such as The Osterman Weekend (1983), Ladyhawke(1985), The Hitcher(1986), The Legend of the Holy Drinker (1988) as well as Blind Fury(1989) just to mention but a few.
Later in the 1990s, Rutger Bauer played roles in low-budget films. He played supporting roles in major films such as Buffy The Vampire Slayer(1992), Confessions of a Dangerous Mind(2002), Batman Begins (2005), Sin City(2005) as well as The Rite(2011).
Rutger Hauer was able to win the 2012 Rembrandt Award for Best Actor in recognition of his lead role in the film titled The Heineken Kidnapping (2011).
Rutger Hauer Cause of Death
It was reported that Rutger Hauer died in his room in Beetsterzwagg after a brief illness . He died on July 19, 2019, and his funeral was held on July 24, 2019.
A ceremony was held in his honor on January 23, 2020, a day on which he would have celebrated his 76th birthday if he was not dead.
Rutger Hauer Family
Rutger Hauer was born in Breukelen and his parents were Teunke and Arend Hauer who were both actors.
They managed an acting school in Amsterdam. Rutger Hauer had three sisters. He had writer Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema playing the father figure and role in his life as he didn’t have a close relationship with his father.
Concerning education, Rutger Hauer studied at Ruldolf Steiner. However, when he turned 15, he ignored school and joined the Dutch Merchant Navy.
