Aykut Anhan, better known by his stage name Haftbefehl, is a prominent German rapper of Kurdish-Zaza descent. Early Life and Background
Haftbefehl was born on December 16, 1985, in Offenbach am Main, West Germany. Raised in a Turkish-speaking household, he grew up under the care of his Turkish mother, hailing from Giresun, and his father of Zaza-Kurdish heritage, originating from the Turkish province of Tunceli. His early life was marked by personal tragedy, as he dropped out of school at the age of 14 following his father’s untimely suicide.
Career
In 2006, facing impending legal troubles related to drug trafficking, Haftbefehl fled to Istanbul. From there, he relocated to the Netherlands, living in cities like Amsterdam and Arnhem. It was during this period that he began crafting his first lyrics. Upon returning to Offenbach, his hometown, he briefly worked as a vehicle mechanic before trying his hand at running a betting shop.
It was after these experiences that Haftbefehl turned to music, embarking on his journey as a rapper. His early recordings caught the attention of Samson Jones, the owner of the Echte Musik label, who recognized his talent and signed him to a contract.
Haftbefehl made a significant impact with his contributions to the sampler “Kapitel 1: Zeit für was Echtes.” He continued to gain recognition with his appearances on the “La Connexion” sampler and collaborating with fellow rappers Kollegah and Manuellsen.
On October 29, 2010, he released his debut album titled “Azzlack Stereotyp,” which made its mark on MusicLine’s Top 100 chart. After the closure of Echte Musik, he launched his label, Azzlacks.
In the spring of 2012, Haftbefehl followed up with his second album, “Kanackiş,” which featured collaborations with renowned German musicians like Jan Delay and Sido. To commemorate the 15th anniversary of the passing of American rapper The Notorious B.I.G., Haftbefehl contributed to the mixtape “The Notorious H.A.F.T.”
With the single “Chabos wissen wer der Babo ist,” Haftbefehl achieved his first entry into the German single charts.
