After her early success, in January of the same year, she made her World Cup debut, managing the challenging slalom race in Zagreb.
Her career took a further turn in March when she secured her first World Cup point in Schladming, Austria, finishing a very creditable 25th in the giant slalom. Her rapid ascension was severely hampered by two devastating anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries that she suffered in 2019—one in March and the other in a fall. Her injuries prevented her from participating in the 2020 season, which tested her mental and physical fortitude.
Mowinckel’s successful return to the World Cup in the 2021 season demonstrated her unrelenting drive. Despite the challenges, she kept moving closer to the pinnacle of her sport. An important step in her comeback was placing second in the super-G at Val d’Isère in December 2021.
