Police Robbery; Government Reaping What It Has Sown – Aseidu Nketia. May 2022

The General Secretary for the National Democratic Congress has come out with a message to the government regarding the current bullion van attack and subsequent arrests of the alleged criminals which included members of the police service.

According to Aseidu Nketia, the government is reaping what it has sowed. The Chief Scribe went further saying that, the NPP government had employed members of the party’s vigilante groups while turning blind eyes to the security of the country.

Aseidu went further saying that, the government did not anticipate the consequences of recruiting such individuals into the police service rather, they did so to win the previous general elections.

“Now, we have armed-robbery gangs in the police service and they are using the guns we have given them to rob us. All the police that are involved, have you heard that a corporal is among them, they are all privates which means they were recruited not more than 5 years ago.

“When the recruitment process started, we complained about it but the government did not listen to us and this is what it has resulted to. We told the government that a lot of party vigilantes were being recruited but they did not do anything about it,” he said.

“If now armed robbers are in the police service who will defend us?” he questioned while speaking in Twi at an interview on Neat FM.
