Peter Nocke, born on October 25, 1955, in Langenberg, Germany. Nocke started swimming under the tutelage of well-known instructors Ernst-Joachim Küppers and Heinz Hoffmann at the Wasserfreunde Wuppertal club. After making his debut in 1973, he went on to dominate the German and European swimming circuits in the 100- and 200-meter freestyle events between 1974 and 1977. Nocke won eight individual titles while winning several German and European championships. He was well-known for his graceful swimming technique and unwavering perseverance.
Nocke was clearly a national champion, as shown by his victories in the 100- and 200-meter freestyle events at the European Championships in Vienna (1974) and Jönköping (1977).
