According to official North Korean media, Warmbier was sentenced to 15 years of hard labor for attempting to smuggle an item emblazoned with a propaganda slogan out of his hotel.

Following his imprisonment in North Korea, he was reportedly subjected to extreme pressure on his teeth, resulting in bone loss.

Otto Warmbier’s dentist from 2011 to 2013, Dr. Murray Dock, disclosed that his teeth had been abnormally pushed back into his mouth. This had never occurred naturally.

Otto Warmbier, 22 years old, was released more than a year after a North Korean court sentenced him to 15 years of hard labor and imprisonment.

According to Dr. Lakshmi Sammarco of Hamilton, Otto Warmbier’s death was caused by an unexplained injury that occurred more than a year prior to his death.

Doctors diagnosed Otto as being in a state of “unresponsive wakefulness,” in which he opens his eyes and blinks but demonstrates no signs of word comprehension.

Medical examinations revealed no conclusive cause for his cognitive difficulties. Doctors reported that Warmbier’s brain suffered severe damage, but he exhibited no physical injuries.
