Born on November 7, 1953, Ottfried Fischer is a well-known German actor and Kabarett performer who is now retired. His most famous role is that of Benno Berghammer from the hit German television series “Der Bulle von Tölz.”
Fischer was born to Werner and Maria Fischer on a farm known as “Ornatsöd” in Untergriesbach, Lower Bavaria. After a short while, he left Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich to follow his passion for acting and Kabarett. He had originally begun studying law there.
Along with a few friends, Fischer started the “Münchner Hinterhoftheater” in 1980 and started his career as an actor and Kabarett artist. He became well-known when Austrian Kabarett performer Werner Schneyder asked him to participate in the television programme “Meine Gäste und ich” in 1983.
As a result, in 1989 Fischer gave his first solo Kabarett performance with his programme “Schwer ist leicht was.” In 1994, he continued to travel with his second show, “Was tun”.
In addition to his prosperous career in Kabarett, Fischer is well-known in the performing world. Among the films and TV shows he has worked on are “Der Bulle von Tölz,” “Der Pfundskerl,” and “Pfarrer Braun.”
Numerous honours have been bestowed upon Fischer during his career, including the Deutscher Kleinkunstpreis, the Salzburger Stier, and several Goldene Romy prizes.
Although Fischer revealed in 2008 that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, he is still considered one of the most brilliant and well-respected musicians in the business.
