Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has asked the populous of Ghanaians to pray and fast against the controversial E-levy bill before parliament. According to the Juaboso member of parliament, the majority caucus will need an addition vote from the independent Fomena Mp before passing the bill.
The infamous e-levy bill which was submitted to parliament as part of the 2022 government budget received wide criticism from ghanaians and public backlash from the minority caucus. The bill when passed seeks to impose a 1.75% tax rate on all e-transactions at a particular threshold.
The bill has yet not been passed because the majority in parliament has not been able to amass the needed numbers to submit it before parliament. A major holdback to the majority is the Dome-Kwabenya Mp.
In midsts of these, Hon. Mintah Akandoh has asserted that, the NDC will never let down Ghanaians and so would never support the bill.“ You say you don’t want the e-levy and that when the issue is raised in the house , I should vite against it. You day even when all the 257 mps support the e-levy, I as your mp should vote against it. Then you have to pray and fast against the NPP having all their numbers in the chamber. It’s the only way to kick against it. The NPP will approve with their numbers all present ”, he stated while addressing his constituents.
