Michael Gambon was born on October 19, 1940, and was an Irish-English actor. It’s important to note that Michael Gambon started his acting career together with Laurence Olivier. Laurence Olivier was one of the original members of the Royal National Theater. The career of Michael Gambon lasted for about 6 decades and within that period he was able to win some awards.
He won three Olivier Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards as well as four BAFTA Awards. For his contribution to the acting fraternity as well as his services to drama, Michael Gambon was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1998. He made many appearances in works by William Shakespeare and some of the works are Othello, Hamlet, MacBeth as well as Coriolanus.
Out of a total of 13 Olivier Awards nominations, he won three and the three were A Chorus of Disapproval in 1985, A View from the Bridge in 1987 and Man of the Moment in 1990. Michael Gambon’s debut at Broadway was in 1997 when he started in David Hare’s Skylight.
His performance in Skylight got him nominated for a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play. He also made his film debut later in 1965 when he played a role in Othello.
Other films to his credit include The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Love (1989), The Wings of the Dove (1997), The Insider(1999), Gosford Park (2001), Amazing Grace (2006), The King’s Speech (2010), Quartet(2012) and Victoria & Abdul (2017). Michael Gambon also played roles in films of Wes Anderson and it must be noted that his role in the Harry Potter film series from 2004 to 2011 added much to his stardom. He had to step in for those roles after the demise of Richard Harris in 2002.
The 4 BAFTA Awards he won were for The Singing Detective (1986), Wives and Daughters (1999), Longitude (2000) and Perfect Strangers (2001). Path to War(2002) and Emma (2009) earned him two nominations for Primetime Emmy Awards.
Later in 2017, Michael Gambon received the Irish Film & Television Academy Lifetime Achievement Award. He also got named on the Irish Times’ list of Ireland’s greatest film actors in 2020. He was ranked number 27.

Michael Gambon had a total of three children. He had a son called Fergus. The mother of Fergus was Anne Miller. Michael Gambon had two other children with Phillippa Hart. It was reported in February 2007 that Phillippa Hart was pregnant with Michael Gambon’s son. She gave birth to another child for Michael Gambon in 2009.

Michael Gambon was reported dead on September 27, 2023. He was 82 years old at the time of his death. Michael Gambon died as a result of pneumonia. He is yet to be buried.
Marriage
Michael Gambon got married to Anne Miller in 1962. He was then just 22 years old. Anne Miller was a Mathematician. Michael Gambon and Anne Miller had a son called Fergus. Fergus became a ceramics expert on the BBC series Antiques Roadshow.
Michael Gambon and his wife lived in Gravesend, Kent. On the set of filming Gosford Park in 2001, Michael Gambon brought Phillippa Hart and introduced her as his girlfriend.
When the news about his girlfriend spread like wildfire in 2002, he left the home he shared with Anne Miller. Philippa Hart gave birth to a son for Michael Gambon.
