Peter Sarsgaard is an American actor who was born on March 7, 1971. He was born at Scott Air Force Base in St. Clair County, Illinois and his parents are Judy Lea and John Dale Sarsgaard. John Dale Sarsgaard was an Air Force engineer but subsequently, he worked with Monsanto and IBM.
Due to the nature of John Dale Sarsgaard’s work, Peter Sarsgaard and his family moved about 12 times to different places.
While growing up, Peter Sarsgaard wanted to be a soccer player and due to that, he decided to ballet classes to improve his coordination. He gave up on soccer and took to writing and theater.
With respect to education, Peter Sarsgaard attended Fairfield College Preparatory School, a private Jesuit boys’ school in Connecticut, where he became more interested in film.
After graduating from Fairfield College Preparatory School in 1989, he moved on to Bard College in New York for two years. He moved on to Washington University in St. Louis (WUSTL) in 1991, and formed a comedy troupe “Mama’s Pot Roast”.
While at Washington University in St. Louis (WUSTL), he performed in some plays. Peter Sarsgaard successfully graduated 1n 1993, with a bachelor’s degree in history.
He played a role in Dead Man Walking in 1995 and in 1998, he also appeared in Another Day in Paradise and Desert Blue. Peter Sarsgaard also got the opportunity to feature in The Man in the Iron Mask (1998).
His performance in Boys Don’t Cry (1999) got him enormous recognition and in 2001, he landed his first lead role in the film titled The Center of the World.

Others are Green Lantern (2011), Knight and Day (2010), The Magnificent Seven (2016) and The Batman (2022).
He received a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor nomination and received a Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Movie/Miniseries nomination.
In 2021, Peter Sarsgaard got nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for the role he played in the Hulu miniseries Dopesick.
