Michael “Micky” Beisenherz has made a successful and diverse career for himself in Germany’s entertainment industry. He was born on June 28, 1977 in Recklinghausen, Germany. He was raised in a community-oriented household since his uncle Johannes Beisenherz held the position of mayor in Castrop-Rauxel-Henrichenburg. Born from a family with a plumbing background, Beisenherz finished his Abitur at the Adalbert-Stifter-Gymnasium in Castrop-Rauxel in 1997.

Career and Education

After a year of studying social sciences at Ruhr University in Bochum, Beisenherz decided to work in construction for a year. His foray into the media world started with an internship at Radio Herne 90acht, a local station that eventually led him to Radio NRW.

Before entering the television industry, Beisenherz worked as an editor at several radio stations, most notably Radio NRW. His TV career truly took off when he co-hosted the Love Parade on RTL II in 2007 and 2008. He maintained his fame as co-host of the game show “The Great German… Test” with Sonja Zietlow from 2010 to 2012.

Beyond his job as a host, Beisenherz co-wrote the screenplay for Jens Oliver Haas’ RTL series “I’m a Star – Get Me Out of Here!” Showing off his adaptability even further, he moderated shows like “German Angst” and “The Most Annoying Germans.”

Oliver Polak and Beisenherz have been a well-liked podcasting duo since 2017. They have collaborated to host a series for Audible subscribers, which they then openly continued on all platforms as “Friendly Fire.” In addition, starting in 2020, he has been moderating the news podcast “Apokalypse & Filterkaffee,” which was among the most well-liked German-language podcasts in 2022.

Beisenherz is not just a well-known actor but also a prolific writer. His witty and perceptive essays and tales have been published regularly in publications such as Die Zeit, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Stern, and others.
