Who Is Lidia Poet?
Lidia Poët (1896-1967) was a trailblazing Italian lawyer and a pioneer for women’s rights in the legal profession. She is known for being the first modern female Italian lawyer and for her advocacy for gender equality in the legal profession and society at large.
Born in Milan, Italy, in 1896, Poët was educated at the University of Milan, where she studied law. She encountered prejudice and discrimination from her male colleagues and teachers because she was one of the few women attending the institution at the time.
