Klaus Dieter Breitschwert is a Bavarian politician affiliated with the Christian Social Union (CSU). He served as a member of the Bavarian State Parliament from 1992 to 2013.
Biography
Breitschwert was born on April 21, 1948, in Ansbach into a family of entrepreneurs who have operated an automobile dealership since 1945. From 1972 to 2013, Klaus Dieter Breitschwert served as a city councilor in Ansbach. He held the position of honorary mayor from 1978 to 1990 and again from 1996 to 2008 under the Oberbรผrgermeisters Ernst-Gรผnther Zumach and Ralf Felber. In 1990, he ran for the position of Oberbรผrgermeister but lost to the SPD candidate, Ralf Felber.
In 1992, Breitschwert succeeded the late representative Heinz Leschanowsky in the Bavarian State Parliament. He secured his seat in the Bavarian State Parliament via the Middle Franconian district list in 1994. Subsequently, he was elected as the direct candidate for the Ansbach-Nord electoral district in 1998, 2003, and 2008.
Breitschwert adheres to the Protestant faith and is divorced. He shares ownership of the family-operated automobile dealership and workshop in Ansbach, with additional branches in Ansbach and Heilsbronn. He is the sole proprietor in Feuchtwangen.
From 1973 to 2012, Klaus Dieter Breitschwert played an active role in the executive board of the Middle-Class Union of the CSU, assuming the position of deputy state chairman from 1975 to 2012. He succeeded Carl-Dieter Spranger as chairman of the CSU district association Ansbach-Stadt from 1976 to 2013. Additionally, he served as deputy district chairman of the CSU Middle Franconia.
Furthermore, Breitschwert contributed to the Media Council of the Bavarian Regulatory Authority for New Media. He chaired the Technical Committee and participated in various committees, including the Television and Decision-Making Committee.
From 2005 until autumn 2017, he presided over the Association of the Bavarian Motor Trade and held the title of State Guild Master of the Bavarian Motor Trade. In recognition of his service, he was elected as Honorary President upon his departure.
