Klaus Bodinger’s Biography, Wikipedia
Klaus Bodinger was a German swimmer and he lived between May 14, 1932, and April 6, 1994. Klaus Bodinger was born in Breslau and died in Strasbourg, France. Klaus Bodinger became the European champion in 1954 and he was coached by Herbert Neweklowsky.
He won his first GDR title in the 200-meter breaststroke for BSG Stahl Nord-Leipzig. Later in 1953, he switched from BSG Stahl Nord-Leipzig to BSG Motor Gohlis-Nord. While with BSG Motor Gohlis-Nord, he also won the 200-meter breaststroke.
However, Klaus Bodinger placed second with respect to the 100-meter breaststroke and in the 4 x 200-meter breaststroke relay. In 1954, he improved his 200-meter breaststroke time to 2:40.0 minutes and further made a time of 2:40.9 minutes at the 1954 European Swimming Championships in Turin.
Klaus Bodinger subsequently joined the Karlsruhe swimming club Neptun 1899. At the 1955 German Championships, Klaus Bodinger won the 200-meter breaststroke for the first time in West Germany and other enviable achievements also followed. It must be emphasized that he won the bronze medal at the 1958 European Swimming Championships and unfortunately when he brought his impressive swimming career to an end, Klaus Bodinger served as an office worker.
Klaus Bodinger died on Easter Monday 1994, in a hotel room in Strasbourg.
