German actress Kathrin Ackermann was born on January 30, 1938, and is well-known for her adaptable roles in theatre, cinema, and television.
When her father, Hans Ackermann, sadly died in the Battle of France, Ackermann had to deal with the tragedies of World War II early in life. Later on, Wilhelm Furtwรคngler, a renowned conductor, became Kathrin’s stepfather when her mother Elisabeth married him.
Not to be overlooked is the fact that Ackermann’s mother was the renowned politician Katharina von Kardorff-Oheimb, who was married to Ernst Albert, a prominent industrialist’s son.
Raised in Lausanne, Ackermann’s love of performing brought her to Munich, where she graduated from the esteemed Otto Falckenberg School of the Performing Arts.
She began working professionally at the Bavarian State Theater in 1959 and remained there until 1979. She then started performing on her own, winning over audiences with her shows, especially in Munich’s private theatres.
Ackermann was a talented actor who made appearances in movies and television shows. Her versatility as an actress was demonstrated by the characters she played in television shows like Vater Wide Willen and Die glรผckliche Familie.
Her role as the mother of Commissioner Charlotte Lindholm, played by her real-life daughter Maria Furtwรคngler, on the crime series Tatort has helped her regain fame in recent years.
Ackermann has also provided voice acting for a number of characters, such as the goddess Athena in Hercules: The Animated Series and Peggy Bundy in the German adaptation of Married… with Children.
