Karoline Herfurth can be described as a German actress. Karoline Herfurth was born on May 22, 1984, in East Berlin, East Germany. She was born to a psychologist mother and a geriatric nurse practitioner father.

Unfortunately, her parents separated and divorced when she was only two years old. It must be noted that Karoline Herfurth grew up in Berlin with a brother and five half-brothers and -sisters. With respect to education, she attended a Waldorf school in Berlin and graduated from Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts.

She managed to learn to play the recorder alongside studying sociology and political sciences. As an actress, Karoline Herfurth at the age of 10, played her first role in a TV series. Subsequently, she played a role in a movie in 2000 when she had turned 15.

It must be noted that she played the role of a teenager in several German movies some of which are  Mädchen, Mädchen (2001) and Big Girls Don’t Cry (2002). She also played lead roles in TV productions and independent German films.

Karoline Herfurth received the  Bavarian Film Award for Best Young Actress in 2009 for her role as Lilli Richter in Caroline Link’s film A Year Ago in Winter. Karoline Herfurth’s appearance in  Perfume: The Story of a Murderer in 2006 marked her international debut and she also played the “Plum Girl” in Patrick Süskind’s best-selling novel Das Parfum.

Karoline Herfurth also featured in the Academy Award Best Picture nominee The Reader, alongside the likes of  Kate Winslet and Ralph Fiennes.
