Karin Dor was born Kätherose Derr on February 22, 1938, in Wiesbaden, Germany. In 1967, Dor had her breakthrough performance as the legendary Bond girl Helga Brandt in the James Bond movie “You Only Live Twice.” Her portrayal captivated viewers throughout the globe and made her a highly sought-after actress in Hollywood. After this achievement, she made a lasting impression in Alfred Hitchcock’s thriller “Topaz” in 1969, proving her aptitude and ability to command the screen.
In addition to her international acclaim, Dor was also celebrated for her work in German cinema, particularly in films adapted from the works of Edgar Wallace and Karl May. Her collaborations with director Harald Reinl, her first husband, yielded a series of successful films that showcased her versatility and range as an actress.
Despite her success on the big screen, Dor remained dedicated to her craft and continued to pursue opportunities in theater. In 2008, she starred in a Munich stage production titled “Man liebt nur dreimal” (“You Only Love Thrice”).

In July 2016, she suffered a serious accident while vacationing in South Tyrol, resulting in a head injury that left her with lasting effects.
