Jonathan Brandis’s Biography
Jonathan Gregory Brandis was an American actor, born on April 13, 1976, in Danbury, Connecticut.
He began his career as a kid model, but swiftly moved on to commercial acting before landing television and film parts. Brandis made his acting debut as Kevin Buchanan on the soap series One Life to Live in 1982, when he was just six years old.
When he was nine years old, Brandis relocated to Los Angeles with his family and began making guest appearances on television shows such as Blossom, L.A. Law, Who’s the Boss?, Murder, She Wrote, The Wonder Years, Full House, Webster, and Kate & Allie.
Brandis’ first starring role as Bastian Bux in The NeverEnding Story II: The Next Chapter came when he was 13 years old.
At the age of 14, Brandis played the young “Stuttering Bill” Denbrough in Stephen King’s It, a television miniseries based on the horror novel of the same name. Critics and spectators alike loved his portrayal in the miniseries.
Throughout his adolescence, Brandis continued to advance his profession, appearing in films such as Sidekicks, in which he played Barry Gabrewski, and Ladybirds, in which he played the lead character Matthew/Martha.
Brandis won one of his most prominent roles as Lucas Wolenczak in the science fiction series seaQuest DSV at the age of 17. This role propelled him to the status of an adolescent idol, and he got thousands of fan messages each week.
Following the cancellation of seaQuest DSV in 1996, Brandis participated in a number of television films as well as supporting roles in films such as Outside Providence and Ride with the Devil. He also played Mozenrath in the Disney animated series Aladdin.
Brandis’ private life drew attention as well, since he dated actress and singer Tatyana Ali from 1995 to 1998. In July 1996, the pair was featured in a story in People magazine.
