Johanna Gastdorf was born on March 17, 1959, in Hamburg, Germany. She developed a fascination for ballet dance at an early age and began performing in ballet shows at the age of nine. Along with ballet, she joined her school’s theatrical club.
Gastdorf continued her passion for acting by attending the Hanover University of Music and Theater. After graduating in 1982, she joined the Hanover State Theater and made her debut as Selma Knobbe in “The Rats.”
She later went to the Bavarian State Theater in Munich and then the Schauspielhaus Bochum.
Gastdorf began acting in films and on television in the 1990s, despite continuing to work largely in theater. Her breakthrough came in 2003, when she appeared in Sönke Wortmann’s film “The Miracle of Bern.” Since then, she has appeared in more than 140 films and television shows.
Gastdorf has played a wide range of characters throughout her career, notably in motherly roles. She has collaborated with prominent directors, including Matthias Hartmann, Leander Haußmann, and Dieter Giesing.
In addition to her acting profession, Gastdorf is married to actor Jan-Gregor Kremp and has a son. She and her husband perform hospice readings regularly. She also supports Bayer 04 Leverkusen football club and is an honorary member.
