Who Is Joe Oldenburg?
Joe is a German boy who went missing in 2022 in Oldenburg, Germany for eight days and was eventually found in a sewer alive. Joe was 8 years old at the time and made the headlines since he went missing and especially when he was found in the sewer.
His last name has not been made public by authorities due to privacy laws in Germany. Prior to when he went missing, Joe was in the front garden of his parents before they later noticed his disappearance.
His family quickly reported his disappearance to the authorities on June 17, 2022. Since then, a search operation was carried out by detectives, dog handlers and with support from the locals.
However, there was still no sign of Joe. Fortunately for Joe and his family, a passerby later heard indistinct weak sounds which can be traced to be coming from the sewer. The passerby then reported it to the emergency services.
The police, ambulance and other emergency services quickly rushed to the scene which is about 200m from his parents home in the Donnerschwee district. They then removed the manhole cover and found the little Joe in the sewer alive.
He was safely removed from the sewer after a firefighter joined him in the sewer and expertly helped to bring him out alive. Although he wasn’t harmed, emergency services noticed he was suffering with hypothermia and dehydration hence quickly rushed him to the hospital.
How he managed to survive down there for eight days remains a mystery and the general public was surprised to see him alive and unharmed. From the comments made by some witnesses during his rescue, it’s clear they were surprised he survived down there without food for eight days.
At the time he was rescued, it was reported by the police that Joe had a learning disability hence could be the reason why he stayed down there thinking it was a game.
Who Are Joe Oldenburg’s Parents?
The parents of Joe are unknown to us at the moment. For some reasons, authorities have not revealed the identities of his parents to the public.
However, what we do know is that, he was living with his loving parents in Oldenburg, Germany before he strangely disappeared from home on June 17, 2022 . The sewer in which he was eventually found is about 200m from his parents home.
One can only imagine how happy and relieved they were when he was finally found.
