Jackie Appiah is the fifth and last of five children born on 5^th December, 1983. She lived her early childhood years in Canada and came to Ghana with her mother when she was 10 years old. Her parents were Janet Owusu and George Appiah.

Jackie got married to Peter Agyemang in 2005 and they have one son together. However, they parted after being together for three years. Her father, George Appiah is presently living in Canada.

Jackie Appiah’s Career

One of her first acting roles was in “Things We Do For Love” in which she played the role of Enyonam Blagogee. Other television series she has acted are: Tentacles, Games People Play, Sun city among others.

Jackie Appiah mentioned that she was very shy the first time she played a role in a movie. The movie was titled Divine Love. She further said that even though she was fumbling and nervous, she was able to perform well.

The famous actress also recollected that her favourite role was in the movie: Mummy’s Daughter by Venus Films. In this movie, she was the daughter of the Bartels family and a princess. Jackie views the local movie industry as having improved.

The famous actress has attained a number of awards and nominations in her acting career. Some of these awards are : Best Actress in a Leading Role at the 2010 Africa Movie Academy Awards, Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2007.

She also received two nominations for the Best Actress in a Leading Role and Best Upcoming Actress at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2008.

In 2013, she went home with the Best International Actress Award in 2013 at the Papyrus Magazine Screen Actors Awards.

Philanthropy

Jackie Appiah has a foundation that reaches out a helping hand to the needy. On Thursday 5^th December, 2019 she gave out items and cash to the Senior Correctional Centre of the Ghana Prison Service.

After giving out items and cash to the representative of the prison service, Jackie Appiah stated that she wanted to do something unique on her birthday and that was what influenced her decision to reach out to the juvenile prisons since it was her first time of being there. She further mentioned that she is willing to provide educational sponsorship to an inmate who was in need of assistance over there.
