He completed his Abitur, the German equivalent of high school education, in Lübben in the year 1982. Following this, he embarked on a significant chapter in his life by engaging in a prolonged three-year military service with the National People’s Army.

After initially pursuing studies in building industry technology at the Verkehrshochschule in Dresden, he shifted gears and pursued a career as an air traffic controller.
