Who Is Alexander Rier?

Alexander Rier is a South Tyrolean folk musician born in 1985 in Castelrotto to Isabella and Norbert Rier. His father is a farmer and widely known as the frontman of the Kastelruther Spatzen.

His father has had a successful career both as a singer and a farmer and was honoured with the Cross of Merit of the State of Tyrol in 2007. With time he also realized his calling was in music hence decided to pursue a music career.

He has three siblings named Marion, Anna and Andreas Rier and they were all raised together in Kastelruther by their parents on their Haflinger stud farm. But before going into full-time music, Rier first worked in a painting company as a ski instructor.

He was also very active in equestrian sports and helped his parents on their farm. He began his musical career in 2010 and released his debut single that same year titled “Bitte kuess mich nicht”.

The song was released at the 2010 folk music summer festival and signed with Ariola record label that same year. He quickly put his debut album together and released it in October 2010, peaking at number 48 in Austria.

He has since followed that up with five additional albums as of August 2023. They are Love Will Always Be The Greatest – The Best (2020), Dream With Me (2017), Now (2015), Love is More ..(2014), Then It’s Christmas (2012), and Between You and Me (2012).

He managed to enter the German charts with his 2020 album which marked his tenth anniversary in the music industry. It peaked at number 13 in the German charts. He has done songs with his father and siblings.
