Ilse Dörffeldt was born on March 23, 1912, in Berlin. Dörffeldt’s defining moment was at the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games, where she represented Germany in the 4 x 100-meter relay and displayed her sprinting talent. In the preliminary run, Dörffeldt and her colleagues Emmy Albus, Käthe Krauß, and Marie Dollinger helped create a new world mark of 46.4 seconds.

She clinched the German championship title in the 4 x 100 meter relay in 1937 and 1938, and the runner-up spot in 1939. Additionally, she contributed to the team’s triumph in the 4 x 200-meter relay, setting a world record time of 1:45.3 minutes in 1938, which was later improved to 1:44.6 minutes in 1940.
