Justice Abdulai has come out debunking all claims and allegations insisting that he was sponsored by a political party to further his writ with the Supreme Court.
While speaking on GTVs “Focus” show, the private legal practitioner and plaintiff to the Supreme Court revealed that his seeking of review on the apex court’s ruling isn’t affiliated to any sponsorship from any political party. He therefore disclosed his displeasure at the allegations and claims.
Earlier this year, the Justice had laid a petition before the apex court asking it to interpret the laws governing deputy speakers of parliament voting while presiding as speaker. A judgement which did not sound great to the plaintiff and many others was passed validating deputies to vote while presiding as speaker. The Justice has however sort for a review of the verdict passed by the Supreme Court which has caused numerous public opinions and allegations.
“We should not allow ourselves to be detracted by the political might of the NDC and NPP. I will continue to pursue this agenda with or without any political tags. Let me emphasise that I am not a member of the NDC and I am not a member of the NPP. I have never had any sponsorship from these political parties.”
“l took this matter up because I didn’t want an NPP sponsored or NDC sponsored person to take this issue to Court so that the decision that will come out will be greeted with further deepening of the polarisation we are going through at the moment, to get a decision that will be more acceptable to Ghanaians,” Justice Abdulai said.
