She has followed the path of her mother, Sonya who also played college volleyball for Virgina Tech. Although she is not a bad basketball player, Sydel’s specialty is volleyball.

While in college at Elon University, Sydel became an integral part of the school’s volleyball team. She was named Team MVP in 2016 as well as being awarded for CAA Offensive Player of the Week on October 31, 2016.

She got married on September 1, 2018 to Damion Lee and have been blessed with a son. They announced in March 2023 that they were expecting a baby girl soon.
