Herbert Fux was born on March 25, 1927, in Hallein, Austria. Herbert Fux was an Austrian film actor and politician. Between 1960 and 2007, he made appearances in more than 140 films.

When he was just five years old, he relocated to Salzburg with his family. At Salzburg,his stepfather worked as a board member of the Landestheater.

Herbert Fux had his studies at the Salzburg Mozarteum University and then his career as a theater actor got underway. He appeared on television from the 1960s and played roles in B movies as well as crime movies.

He worked with various directors and some of these directors were Michael Anderson, Christian-Jaque, Wolfgang Staudte, Volker Schlondorf, Frank Antel , Ingmar Bergman as well as Werner Herzog.

He also worked with other famous actors.

Herbert Fux died at the age of 79. He died with the help of the Swizz euthanasia association Dignitas in Zurich Switzerland. He died on March 13, 2007.

Politics

Herbert Fux was a co-founder of a citizens’ initiative against the commercialization and uglification of Salzburg’s historic townscape in 1977. He was elected a member of the city council.

Later in 1982, he also co-founded the Austrian United Greens Party. The party merged into the Green Alternative in 1982. Herbert Fux was elected MP of the Austrian National Council during the 1986 legislation election and he retained his position and seat until December 1988.

He made his comeback to Parliament in November 1989 but a year later, he retired. He served as Culture Committee Chairman in Salzburg.
