Helmut Thieltges is known in the history of Germany as a chef. He was born on September 24, 1955, and it must be noted that since 1978, he has been a chef at the Waldhotel Sonnora. Waldhotel Sonnora is his own family business and he is known to be an exceptional chef who has some awards to his credit.
Helmut Thieltges was the only child of his parents. His parents were innkeepers Vinzenz and Maria Thieltges. His parents are noted to have led the Pension Elisabeth in Dreis. Helmut Thieltges had his apprenticeship in the Roman Emperor in Trier, Helmut Thieltges in 1973, relocated to the Schlosshotel Pontresina near St. Moritz.
He again moved from the Schlosshotel Pontresina near St. Moritz to the Breidenbacher Hof in Düsseldorf, and finally in 1977, he moved to the Bastei restaurant in Cologne. Helmut Thieltges has since 1978, been serving as a chef at the Waldhotel Sonnora and in 1999, Michelin Guide awarded his restaurant three stars for eighteen consecutive years of operation.
Waldhotel Sonnora is known to be located in a forest on the edge of Dreis. Helmut Thieltges was a chef who was mostly focused on his work as a chef and only granted a few interviews and never published a cookbook. He started out with the normal program of a dining restaurant and delighted guests from Belgium, Luxembourg, and France.

Helmut Thieltges died after a brief illness. He was 61 years old at the time of his death. Unlike other chefs, Helmut Thieltges was quite active in his restaurant. He often helped in preparing the 18 different à la carte dishes and seven-course menus in his kitchen. He was always concerned about the quality of the restaurant and meeting the needs of his guests
Awards
Helmut Thieltges won some awards when he was alive as a chef. Some of these awards are 3 Stars in Michelin Guide (Guide Rouge), 19.5/20 points in Gault Millau (2015),5 points in Der Feinschmecker , 5 spoons in ARAL SchlemmerAtlas and 1998 “Chef of the Year”, Gault Millau.
