German racing driver Hans-Joachim Stuck, popularly known as “Strietzel,” was born in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria, on January 1, 1951. He is the son of the renowned racing driver Hans Stuck from before World War II.
Stuck’s father taught him to drive on the renowned Nรผrburgring, exposing him to the world of racing at an early age. At the age of eighteen, he took part in his first motor race in the Nordschleife in 1969.

Stuck retired from Formula One in the late 1970s because he was too tall to fit properly into the vehicles. But his career as a racer didn’t end there.
Stuck kept up his winning ways in touring and sports cars, taking home two victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in a Porsche 962. He also saw success in the DTM Championship, taking home the trophy with Audi in 1990.
Stuck took part in the Grand Prix Masters, a formula for former Formula One drivers, in its first season in 2006. He left racing in 2011 following the 24 Hours of Nรผrburgring.
