Grace Kelly was an American actress who was born on November 12, 1929, at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her parents were John B. Kelly Sr. and Margaret Majer. Grace Kelly had two older siblings, Margaret and John Jr., and a younger sister, Elizabeth.

She became the Princess of Monaco. She featured in a lot of films and later got married to Prince Rainier III of Monaco on April 18, 1956. Grace Kelly is widely known as the iconic actress of the Golden Age of Hollywood.

Concerning education, Grace Kelly attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and successfully graduated in 1949. Her presence was felt in New York City theatrical productions and television broadcasts but she had her film debut in  Fourteen Hours (1951) and became famous due to Fred Zinnemann’s western film High Noon (1952) as well as John Ford’s adventure-romance Mogambo (1953).

For the role she played in John Ford’s adventure-romance Mogambo (1953), she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress of the Academy Award.

She won the  Academy Award for Best Actress for the role she played in the drama The Country Girl (1954).

Over the years, she was active in the acting fraternity and won an Academy Award, three Golden Globe Awards and got listed in the 13th position in the 25 Greatest Female Stars of Classical Hollywood cinema compiled by the  American Film Institute.

Other notable films that Grace Kelly has been involved with include the war film The Bridges at Toko-Ri (1954), the romantic comedy High Society (1956), and three Alfred Hitchcock suspense thrillers: Dial M for Murder (1954), Rear Window (1954), and To Catch a Thief (1955).

Grace Kelly’s Death

Grace Kelly suffered a mild cerebral hemorrhage on September 13, 1982. This was when she was driving to Monaco.

She lost control of her 1971 Rover P6 350  and drove off the steep, winding road and down the 120-foot (37 m) mountainside. Her teenage daughter Stéphanie, who was also in the car, failed to gain control of the car.

Grace Kelly, who had injuries to the brain and thorax and a fractured femur, was taken to the Monaco Hospital for medical care but she did not make it. She died the following evening at 10:55 pm.

Grace Kelly was buried in the Grimaldi family vault and her funeral was held at the Cathedral of Our Lady Immaculate in Monaco-Ville, on September 18, 1982.

Grace Kelly’s Marriage

Grace Kelly got married at the age of 26. She retired from acting to marry Prince Rainier III of Monaco and discharge her duties as Princess of Monaco. They had three children;  Princess Caroline, Prince Albert, and Princess Stéphanie. Grace Kelly established the Princess Grace Foundation in 1964. The foundation seeks to support local artisans. She was the founder of  AMADE Mondiale. Grace Kelly was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature with respect to The Children of Theatre Street (1977).
