Giorgio Minisini, born on 9 March 1996, is an Italian synchronised swimmer known for his impressive achievements in the sport.
He created history by becoming the first male artistic swimmer to win a gold medal in a men’s solo event at an LEN European Aquatics Championships.
When FINA formally allowed the addition of mixed-gender events in synchronised swimming and diving in 2014, Minisini’s career took off. This ruling gave male swimmers like Minisini additional opportunity to participate at the highest level of the sport.
Minisini represented Italy at the World Aquatics Championships in Kazan in 2015 in the inaugural Mixed Duet category in synchronised swimming.
He created a name for himself by earning two bronze medals in the technical and free routines of the Mixed Duet. He became the first male bronze medalist in artistic swimming at a World Championship with these victories, demonstrating his great talent and aptitude in the sport.
Minisini’s triumph will be continued at the World Aquatics Championships in 2022. He won the gold medal in the mixed duet technical routine with his partner Lucrezia Ruggiero, scoring an astounding 89.2685 points.
