Gori’s career took a significant turn in 1984 when he began working for Silvio Berlusconi’s Rete 4, an Italian TV network. After moving up the ranks, he became director of Canale 5, Mediaset’s flagship channel under Berlusconi, in 1991. Gori’s impact in the Italian media grew when he was appointed director of Italia 1 in 1997 and then went back to head Canale 5.
In 2001, Gori took a pivotal step by founding Magnolia, a television production company that collaborated with both Rai and Mediaset. This venture showcased Gori’s entrepreneurial spirit and his ability to navigate the complex landscape of media production.
In September 2012, he resigned from Magnolia, selling all his shares, and transitioned into the realm of politics, embarking on a new chapter in his career.

The announcement of Gori’s candidacy for the Bergamo mayoral race in 2014 marked a turning point in his political career. His victory in June 2014’s mayoral election was made possible by his triumph in the center-left primary when he received 58.5% of the vote.
In 2017, Gori set his sights on a broader political canvas by announcing his intention to run as the center-left candidate for the Presidency of Lombardy in the regional election of March 2018.
